Happy Tuesday y’all!

A few weeks ago I participated in a fun monthly link up to discuss what is going. One of the questions was “What are you listening to?”, my answer was Podcasts. I can’t get enough of them and I figured I would share with you which podcasts I listen to and a few that I recently added to my list but have yet to listen to.

I started listening to podcasts when Serial first came out on a road trip to Baton Rouge. I was hooked on the story and it made my drive go by so much faster. However, after that I didn’t listen to podcasts for a while because I couldn’t find any that I loved or were as interesting until my friend Casey, from Analogy of Reality, sent me home with a list of podcasts I had to listen to. After listening to a few different ones I subscribed to the following:

Bitch Sesh: A Real Housewives Breakdown
The Popcast with Knox & Jaime
#Girlboss Radio with Sophia Amoruso
Ladies Who Lunch
The Big Boo Cast
The Skinny Confidential Him & Her Podcast
The Bitch Bible
Adderall & Compliments
Straight Up With Stassi

They are all lighthearted, funny, and sometimes inspiring such as #Girlboss radio. After listening to one of Sophia’s podcasts about building a smart financial future, I knew I had to make some changes now so my future can be lucrative. (Wanderlust Goals).

Now that I have my favorite podcasts, I added a few more to my list:

Ronna & Beverly
Gilmore Guys
Reality Life with Kate Casey
Dear Sugar
Magic Lessons with Elizabeth Gilbert
So Money with Farnoosh Torabi

After I get a few episodes in on each, I’ll let y’all know if any of them have moved up to the favorites list.

Do you listen to listen to podcasts? If you do, I would love to know what you are listening to. I’ve heard good ¬†things about “This American Life” and other true crimes ones to change it up.

Thanks for stopping by!

Xo, Heather

Wanderlust: (n.) A strong desire or urge to wander or travel and explore the world.:

I’m not entirely sure when I was bitten by the wanderlust bug but at times it consumes me. I image the days when I can travel more often than I do to places I have yet to see but dream about.

I’m fortunate to have Brandon who loves to travel and a group of girlfriends who believe in a yearly girls’ trip to get away from our everyday lives.

I have a Pinterest board full of all of the places I would love to go someday. Hopefully Europe for my 40th which is YEARS away but if I start planning and saving now, it could be a very memorable trip.

Here are a few of the places I would love to see. . .

Shangri-La Hotel...Paris - what better hotel to choose than the one with a beautiful Eiffel tower view!:

Paris – of course

The Bridge of Sighs | Venice, Italy:

Haiku Stairs is also called the Stairway to Heaven, and many say is worth the 3,922 steps it takes to get to the top. The view is said to be quite heavenly.:

Any part of Hawaii

Bali, Indonesia:

The London Eye and Big Ben, London, UK:

So needless to say, I need to win the lottery, or up my savings plan by 100%. One of these days I will see all of these places and then some!

I hope your Monday wasn’t too rough and your week goes by quickly.

Where are some places you want to wanderlust to? I would love to know.

Friday Five

The start of my fall table decor. I need to either buy a runner or some sort of garland to wrap around my ceramic pumpkins and flowers, and a few mercury glass votives. Sometimes I go to Hobby Lobby and everything is on sale, but last Friday when I went NOTHING was on sale which is why I left with only two pumpkins.

I started taking this vitamin for healthy hair, skin and nails. My hair already grows like a weed, so I’m excited to see if the vitamin helps make it healthier.

I finally bit the bullet and subscribed to Southern Living magazine. I love how it combines three of my favorite things, food, home decor and travel.

After taking a break from Birchbox for a few months, I went back to it. I love everything that I received in this month’s box, especially the thermal face mist.

I’m finally getting my hair done on Saturday! (Sorry Kelsey!) I have to start thinking about how I want my hair to be for my wedding. . . maybe I want to add a little bit more blonde to it?? I’ll probably just let Kelsey do her thing. I’m not going to cut it that short until after the wedding.

What are your weekend plans? Mine are going to be pretty low key since my next two weekends are booked with EXTRA fun travel!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

P.S. Has anyone heard or tried bullet journaling??? If you have tried it, will you please comment below and tell me how to start this process? I’m searched Pinterest but all of them look so advanced. Thanks in advance!

NY Roots Travel – Scottsdale, AZ

New York Roots to Southern Boots

A few weeks ago Brandon and I traveled to Scottsdale, AZ to cheer on Texas Tech when they played Arizona State University. I went to Arizona a few years ago for two weeks with my previous job and I have been itching to go back ever since. We decided to make a long weekend out of it so we can explore around Scottsdale and Tempe and still attend the game. We landed on Thursday night around 7 (PST), checked into our hotel and went to dinner. I wanted to share a few of my favorite things about Arizona in case you have a trip planned or decide that you want to spend a long weekend in the desert.

Where to Stay

We stayed at the aLoft in Tempe which was the perfect location for the weekend. We were about a 10 minute Uber from the airport, walking distance to the football stadium, ASU, places to eat and a 6 minute Uber to Old Town Scottsdale, plus we had amazing view of the mountains. A few friends stayed at the Graduate Hotel which I’ve never heard of but it was closer to campus and had an upscale dorm room feel.

What to Do

img_50391New York Roots to Southern Bootsimg_50441

Go to the Phoenix Zoo

Go on a hike. If you want to do a long hike, I would recommend Southern Mountain, but if you want something shorter with view of Tempe I would hike Hayden Butte Preserve (Leonard Monti Trail)

Go to an Arizona Diamondback Game. The stadium is so nice and Brandon was impressed with the value beer at $4.

Walk around ASU

Go to Dierks Bentley’s bar, Whiskey Row in Tempe

Shop in Old Town Scottsdale and grab a drink at the Rusty Spur

Where to Eat

I can go on and on about places to eat in the Scottsdale area but here are a few places where we ate

Fractured Prune for FRESH made to order donuts. . .just don’t eat 2 and then hike Hayden Butte Preserve

Old Town Tortilla Factory, get the flautas with the mole sauce and ask for their fresh tortillas.

Italian Grotto, get the Chicken Carolina I promise you won’t be disappointed. Anytime Brandon and I go out to dinner we decide who had the better meal, I won that night.

Roaring Fork for their happy hour, but get there right when happy hour starts because you won’t be able to find a seat in the bar area. We learned the hard way so we didn’t eat there on this trip but I ate there for dinner 2 years ago.

Salut Kitchen Bar for brunch, get the hangover fries even if you aren’t hungover and the bottomless mimosas. What is brunch without a mimosas? Sad, just sad.

Since you are close to the west coast, In and Out Burger especially for late night food.

Getting Around

We walked A LOT! I think my Fitbit said that we walked about 15 miles on Friday alone. Luckily Tempe and Scottsdale are very Uber and Lyft friendly so we used them most of the weekend and it was SUPER cheap.

We had so much fun on our weekend getaway to Arizona that I want to go back as soon as possible, maybe when it’s below 100 degrees!

If you have gone to Arizona before, what are some of your favorite things to do?

Thanks so much for stopping by!
