Last weekend Brandon and I drove up to Nacogdoches, TX to pick up some furniture from a family friend. The furniture needs some love, but I honestly can’t wait to bring each piece back to life. Our furniture haul included, a buffet, a gorgeous vanity, a trunk and a humidor from the 1940s/1950s which is lined with copper.
First up on the list is the buffet, which will live in our front room/entryway. Our house was built in the 60’s so we believe this room used to be the living room. (More pictures will come in a later post). Last night, we went to Lowe’s to pick up some supplies to start refurbishing.
My plan is to paint the buffet a glossy, bright white and spray paint the original hardware black. I LOVE how black and white is always a timeless look.
The drawers should be easy to repair, I’ll probably line the drawers with a fun print, because why not!?!?
I’m obsessed with this detail. It’s so pretty and adds so much to the buffet. I’m thinking I’ll keep it white, but wouldn’t a soft gold be pretty? What do you think?
I hope y’all have a wonderful Halloween weekend!!
Thanks for stopping by!
Over the last two weeks I was able to mark off a few items from my Fall Bucket List, so I wanted to share it with you!
Get a PSLI enjoyed a few pumpkin spice lattes on Sunday at Basics Brunch, one might have had espresso flavored vodka in it.
Bake something that has pumpkin in it (I might make these tonight)The picture is not the best, but I promise they tasted WAY better than they looked. Note to self, get better at taking pictures of food.
Go to the zoo
Decorate my front porch with pumpkins and mums
Go to a pumpkin patch
Tailgate at a football game
Watch Hocus Pocus
Carve/Decorate a pumpkin
Use my fall candlesVanilla Pumpkin Marshmallow from Bath & Body Works is probably my favorite. I still have 2 other candles to use, but I’m going to hold off a little bit longer.
Pass out Halloween candy
Wear flannelLast Friday, I wore my favorite buffalo (similar) check flannel with skinny jeans, and of course these booties.
Watch the Thanksgiving Day Parade
I’ll be able to scratch off a few more items this weekend since it’s Halloween. This is our first year in our house, so we are looking forward to passing out candy to the trick or treaters and watching Hocus Pocus afterwards. What are your plans for Halloween?
Thanks for stopping by!
Happy Monday! I seriously needed an extra day between Sunday and Monday. Does anyone else feel that way?
On Sunday my friend, Carly invited some of us over to her new apartment for a housewarming/basics brunch. Of course all of the girls wore black yoga pants, and no that was not planned but I like that we all just wanted to be comfy on a rainy Sunday.
For brunch, you could either bring a dish or bring booze. There can never be enough champagne on a Sunday. The #basicsbrunch menu consisted of, pumpkin spice lattes, apple cider mimosas with a sugar rim, flourless pumpkin pancakes, bacon, egg and cheese casserole (made by yours truly, find the recipe here), sweet potato hash with fall veggies, fruit salad, and pecan coconut bars. Everything was so yummy, and the company was even better.
I hope you had a wonderful weekend with good food, good friends and of course, comfy yoga pants!
Happy Thursday, y’all! We have almost made it to the weekend again.
I wanted to write you a quick post about my all time favorite pair of booties, EVER! During Nordstrom’s Anniversary Sale, I picked up these beauties, and it was love at first try-on. I can’t even begin to tell you all of the different outfit combinations I came up with in the first five minutes.
So far, I’ve worn them with casual dresses, a little black shift dress to work and to a football game, regular skinny jeans, ripped up skinny jeans, and skirts. They easily transition from casual to dressed up. The best part about them is the heel. The heel is the perfect height to walk around all day without your feet wanting to scream. I wore them a few weekends ago when we went to Dallas (you can read about it here) and they treated me so well.
Today, I tossed them on with a sleeveless black jersey dress (similar), and a floral kimono (similar), for a simple, easy go-to look. I’ll probably wear them this weekend for a date night with Brandon.
What is your go to fall fashion item? I would love to know!
Thanks for stopping by!
Hello to all of you lovely people,
Over the weekend I went to the Kendra Scott store in Rice Village, to buy a new pair of KScotts that support Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
For every pair of the Rose Quartz Danielle or Elle sold, Kendra Scott will not only donate 20% of the proceeds to Susan G. Komen, but she will also gift a pair of earrings to women diagnosed with breast cancer and undergoing chemotherapy. How could I possibly say no to that? At the checkout counter, I was able to write a little note of encouragement to the woman who will receive a beautiful pair of Kendra Scott’s.
If you don’t have a Kendra Scott store near you, don’t worry, you can shop online and still help the cause now until October 31st.
I hope you are having a great start to your week!
