What’s Up Wednesday

I’m linking up with up with Larson Lingo, Mix and Match Mama and Pinterest Told Me To today for the monthly What’s Up Wednesday post!

What we’re eating this week…
I’ve been really bad this week with menu planning and cooking dinner.Pizza on Sunday, burrito bowl on Monday, Shrimp on Tuesday, Taquitos on Wednesday, and Thursday is a wild card since we leave on Friday for Dallas.

What I’m reminiscing about…
The first Texas Tech game that I went to with Brandon almost two years ago when they played Baylor in Dallas at AT&T Stadium (or Jerry’s World). We are going back to Dallas this weekend to see the Red Raiders play and check out Kliff. {insert heart eyes emoji} #WRECKEM

What I’m loving…
The slightly cooler weather that has decided to grace Houston with it’s presence. I’m finally starting to see the light at the end of the summer heat tunnel.

What we’ve been up to…
Brandon and I have been working on our house, a lot. It is hard work to try to make a house a home on a budget. I did put together this little gallery wall last week, I couldn’t look at beige walls any longer.

What I’m working on…
100 miles in 30 days, you can read my rules here

What I’m excited about…
Decorating my house for fall. I can’t stop buying cute little fall things at Hobby Lobby. The sign below is currently on my mantle, surrounded with a few small pumpkins for Trader Joe’s.

What I’m watching/reading…

I’m almost done with Season 4, and I’m going to be so sad when it’s over but at least SCANDAL is back!

I started reading “What Remains” last week and I have to say, I’m still in the very beginning of the book (it’s hard to read while I’m on the treadmill or elliptical), but I’m hooked. I can’t wait to dive deeper into on my roadtrip.

What I’m listening to…
When I lived in Dallas, I regularly attended ‘The Porch‘ at Watermark Church (Thank you, Katie), and now that I don’t live there anymore I try to listen to their podcasts. They recently started a new series called, Save the Date. Y’all is it so good and is so truthful about what all of us go through when we are dating.  If you decide to listen to at least one of them, you will not be disappointed but you might get the Backstreet Boys stuck in your head.

What I’m wearing…
These booties, all. the. time. They go with EVERYTHING! Dresses, ripped skinnies, black skinnies, and skirts. They are my perfect fall go to.'Trott' Bootie (Women)via Nordstrom

What I’m doing this weekend…
This weekend we are heading to Dallas to watch Texas Tech vs. Baylor, see my Dallas friends, and snuggle some cute babies.

What I’m looking forward to next month…
That is is OCTOBER, which is by far my favorite month. Hopefully I can finally pull my scarves and sweaters out of hibernation. Fingers crossed!!

What else is new…
Not a whole lot other than making a house a home, football season, and praying for fall!

Thanks for stopping by!

100 Miles in 30 Days

Hey y’all!

I’ve decided to challenge myself to complete 100 miles in 30 days. There really isn’t a reason why I decided to do this, except for the fact that I love a good challenge. When I started thinking out it, (on Monday afternoon and started Monday night) it sounded hard on paper, 100 miles in 30 days but then I broke it down. I would have to complete 3.33 miles everyday, which would take around 35 minutes everyday. How is it that I’m able to plow through a few episodes of Revenge but 35 minutes at the gym sounded impossible? Well, I reevaluated my thoughts and said its only 35 minutes. A shift in perspective changes EVERYTHING.

I’m going to document my journey on the blog, but I’ll do it on a weekly basis. A daily post about 3.33miles could get a little boring, so I will spare that from y’all. This way I can keep myself accountable, track my progress and maybe inspire 1 person to try this as well.

Let’s start with a few of the rules:

  1. I already track my steps throughout the day with my FitBit, but this challenge is for the miles OUTSIDE of my daily steps
  2. Most of my miles will come from walking on the treadmill (I try to not run too much due to some injuries), or the elliptical
  3. If I know that I’ll be out-of-town for a weekend, I’ll make up the mileage throughout the week
  4. HAVE FUN!!!

Monday

Tuesday – I didn’t take a photo of my results because I completed my first mile on the treadmill, until I got bored. Then I moved to the elliptical and finished up on there. It was a little harder to complete tonight, I got to the gym later, I forgot my water, I was hungry, and I tried to read my book but it’s hard to focus when you are moving up and down. How are people able to read as they walk or are on the elliptical?

Only 93.34 miles to go!

What are some ways that you like to challenge yourself? I would love to hear!

A Few of My Favorite Things

Cooler Weather

September feels like a brand new start for me every single year. The hot, sticky, humid weather of the summer drives me crazy and by August I start to crave autumn weather. Cool autumn weather is my love language. Booties, sweaters, and scarves just make me so happy!

“Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall” – The Great Gatsby

Iced coffee from Starbucks

I start most mornings with a grande iced coffee with 2 splendas and 2% milk from Starbies. It’s the perfect combination to get me going in the morning.

Lazy Netflix Days

During the summer our weekends are so busy with weekend travels. Once I have a free weekend, there is nothing better than a lazy day on the couch participating in a Netflix marathon. I’m currently watching Revenge, have you watched it yet? I’m mad at myself for not jumping on the bandwagon sooner since I’ve been hooked since episode 1.

Wine Tasting in Fredericksburg

We had so much fun at Grape Creek Vineyard in Fredericksburg, TX a few weeks ago. I’ll write-up a full review at a later date, but had to put a little teaser out there.

What are a few of your favorite things? I would love to find out.

Thanks for stopping by!
